 “Jealousy has always been my cross, the weakness and woundedness in me that has most often caused me to feel ugly and unlovable, like the Bad Seed.” Anne Lamott

Of all negative human emotions, Jealousy is one of the most common and disturbing. It tends to bring out the worst in us, making us feel bad, ruining our relationships or simply filling our heart with hatred. Some of the feelings the fuel jealousy include;

Lack Of Confidence; The main causes for feelings of jealousy are your doubts about your abilities or skills. If you were one hundred percent sure of yourself you wouldn't suffer from any jealous feelings.

Poor Self-Image; Having a poor self-image is another cause of jealousy. If you believe that you look ugly or that you are not that handsome then chances are you'll experience feeling of jealousy whenever you meet someone who looks better than you

Insecurity: Feelings of insecurity are the result of the two previously mentioned causes. A poor Self-Image and lack of Self-Confidence can make you feel insecure in your relationships and this can be a powerful reason that can make you feel jealous.

Fear Of Loss; This fear can be a fear of ending up alone, being rejected or of losing the love of your partner, your job or your position in the world.

How Does Jealousy Start?

Jealousy often starts in childhood when vying with siblings for our parent’s attention, toys or food.  This is when we can start feeling unloved and unwanted or invisible. Once at school these problems can exacerbate with siblings shunning us or not being popular with our peers.

Once we become adolescents the feelings that cause jealousy are heightened by hormones and the desire to control our environment and the people within it. This can lead to abnormal jealousy that can cause paranoia, aggression, disappointment and depression and the inability to sustain close relationships.

Jealousy is a manifestation of our fears and insecurity, and if we don't deal with it at source, it will ruin all our relationships and lose the people we love.

  1. jealousy is not more powerful than love in rdagres to emotion some people will risk their lives and die for love or their loved ones ergo the willing to risk your own life makes it more powerfulhowever, jealousy is more prevalent, in that most people experience jealousy and more often than love. In that most people are more willing to hate or do evil to others than to love and do good without looking for reward.
